Beard' Subject: Black Dutch Charles Wilson asks if the explanations for Black Dutch are the same as for Black Irish. Charles - YES. I've always been told that my Leach ancestors are Black Dutch.
My great-great-grandfather, Speed Leach, had dark hair, dark eyes, and a dark complexion. And my Cupp ancestors were referred to as Black Germans. Again, they had the dark hair and eyes instead of the blond hair and blue eyes. Beard' Subject: SSDI -General Fault errors Mary Wilson writes that when she goes to to access the SSDI, she's encountering GENERAL PROTECTION FAULT errors. Mary, I don't know if the problem lies with Netcom's Netcruiser software, but it definitely is NOT a problem with the site itself.
I've encountered the same errors, Netcruiser crashes, and I have to reboot my computer before I can use Netcruiser again. However, if I log onto my AOL account, I can access this web site with no problems at all. Is anyone other than Mary and me having this problem using Netcom's Netcruiser software, with or without Netscape Navigator loaded on top? If so, reply to me by email.
Let's get our facts organized and then approach Netcom's technical people. In Raleigh, NC - Date: Tue, 2 Jul 1996 08:43:34 -0400 From: 'Elizabeth A.
McKinnon' Subject: London,England-Hammersmith area help wanted My grandparents were married in 1909 in St. Stephens Church in Hammersmith area of London. The church was located on Uxbridge Road 1/2 mile west of Shepards Bush Green.
My question is - Is the church still at that location? I would like the address if it is still there. If it is not there, where might the records be kept. Thanks in advance for any help that can be provided. Liz McKinnon. Royal Oak, MI 48067 USA. I went back and removed all the living generations from my Gedcom file. I think privacy is very important. Who knows how the information will be used and by whom if we share too freely. From now on it is only the deceased that I will share except to close relatives. Without the data of what value is the source? I wouldn't include either.
Xenia%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Having children is hereditary. If your parents hadn't had any, neither could you!%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% On Tue, 2 Jul 1996, Patty Lindsay wrote: In the process of building a GED2HTML page I had decided to not show the names of my parents generation for privacy reasons. After reading the discussion about identifying sources on these pages on this list serve, I decided to include my sources. Since I have just gotten started and Family Origins has a good facility for entering sources, I have been pretty thorough about citing sources and entering the text of the sources. The GED2HTML program reads, formats and indexes the sources very well, including the source of the text. Since my grandmother was 'thoughtful' enough to keep a wonderful scrapbook of obituaries, birth and wedding annoucements, these sources would reveal a lot about my living relatives. It wouldn't take much intelligence to deduce their names and relationships from the sources.
So I see my choices as: 1. Don't include sources. Delete the names from the sources after exporting and before converting to HTML. (Every time I export?) 3. Changing the text of the sources in my database. (I think keeping good records of my sources is more important).
Not worry about the privacy issue. (again too important to give up). As I see it, the first is my only workable choice. (I will probably add some verbage indicating sources are available via eMail). Has anyone else run into this? Do others have the concern I do about privacy?

Howes' Subject: Re: New River, North Carolina Donna E. Beard writes: Sandy, I believe, replied that the New River is in northwestern North Carolina and flows to the Ohio River.
Robert Long posted a note that the New River is in eastern NC and flows to the ocean. Sandy got it right (obviously, since she lives right there and can see it!). Robert, I believe you're referring to the NEUSE River, which flows to the southeast (it's hardly more than a creek where Poole Road crosses it here in Wake County). New and Neuse - sound-alikes, which certainly is confusing!
Actually, while Sandy probably gave the desired answer to the question Robert Long is not incorrect. The New River is, indeed, an inlet/outlet to the Atlantic Ocean near Jacksonville, NC. It is not, however, the same river as was declared a 'Wild and Scenic River' by Jesse Helms in one of his few pro-environmental votes. If you think sound-alikes are confusing how about spell-alikes. Just like families in genealogy, your New River may not be my New River.Byron - Date: Tue, 2 Jul 1996 08:32:30 -0400 From: 'Regina A. We would soon have plenty of data on the net. Our society and/or members have extracted b/d/m from over 150 years of newspapers and this is only the tip of the iceburg in our county which is larger than the state of Rhode Island. Has on going project to read and record all cemeteries within our county. Have indexed many volumes which previously had no indexes. All of these have been printed and are available in major genealogical libraries throughout the US. BUT as yet not on the net.
